Miniature Bear Artist: Nicola Wilshaw

Nicola makes her miniatures under the name Penny Bunn Bears, after the nickname given by her father to her mother, whose maiden name was Bunn.

Nicola has been making and designing miniature bears for over 10 years she uses both mohair and upholstery fabric for her bears that are of the highest quality as are the glass beads, silk and cotton fabrics used in her clothes, her bears are stuffed with a soft cotton waste which is similar to kapok and are fully jointed even the tiny 1.5 inch bear.

No two teddy creations are the same, although similar designs may be reproduced in different fabrics. Prices start at £15.00 - £20.00 for a tiny doll's house size bear.

Nicola's 3 inch - 3.5 inch complete bears such as; a little girl or boy bear, fully dressed, start around £35.00, whilst the most intricate costumes and beaded bears with accessories sell for around £75.00 to £110.00. Nicola also makes gollies and other miniature animals.

Nicola sells many of the bears herself at the eight fairs that she attends every year, including Hugglet's Teddy Bear Fairs at Kensington Town Hall and The British Bear Fair in Hove.

Nicola also regularly teaches Bear/Bead workshops to small groups. Her teddies are available in many well known stores, including; The Doll's House Museum in Basel, Switzerland.

Nicola has been a member of the Tedi Bach Hug for 10 years and The Bead Makers Guild for two.

Nicola accepts special commissions from all around the world, and is willing to do workshops around the UK.
